• Madeja Metcalf to Lead RSCVA’s New Chicago Office

The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority (RSCVA) announced the addition of Madeja Metcalf as the regional director of convention sales, with responsibility for soliciting meetings and conventions throughout the Midwest.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people in the meetings space in Chicago as well as back at RSCVA headquarters, and across the authority’s network, said Metcalf. “Obviously, I’m also excited to share the beauty of Reno Tahoe with other meetings professionals and potential customers!”

In her new role, Metcalf will specifically build trusting relationships with industry partners. “My favorite thing about working in convention sales is the opportunity to meet and get to know so many great people,” said Metcalf. “I’ll show them that the destination of Reno Tahoe is a great fit not only for meetings, but also for adventure!”

The University of Missouri, Columbia is where Metcalf first studied hospitality management. “From there, I interned in various operational roles within the hotel world prior to moving into hotel sales.” She then racked up more than five years of meetings and convention experience.

Before moving into her current role, Metcalf was a meeting planner at the American Osteopathic Association. “When I was a meeting planner, I understood the process of selecting a location to host a meeting and all of the factors that play into it. Knowing what my clients need and are interested in from first-hand experience, I can help them make informed decisions on where to host their programs.”

The plan to work at RSCVA’s new Chicago office excites Metcalf. She said, “Chicago has an amazing group of destination representatives and the new office solidifies Reno Tahoe’s presence in the community. I’m excited to further share the story of Reno Tahoe in this region and to open others up to the many reasons why I have fallen in love with Northern Nevada.”

“As the RSCVA expands its reach, it’s critical to have a competitive presence throughout the major convention, trade and association markets, especially in a destination like Chicago, where we have reliable, direct air service,” added Mike Larragueta, vice president, RSCVA. “Madeja has a strong meetings and events background and knows the region well. We’re excited to have her representing Reno Tahoe.”

After officially joining the RSCVA in February of 2018, Metcalf has made it her goal to strengthen Reno Tahoe’s commitment to their market. “I will continue to build Reno Tahoe’s reputation as an excellent meetings destination and work to bring as many new groups from the Midwest region to Reno Tahoe as I can.”

Viceroy Snowmass recently hired Danielle McNair as director of business development for their sales professional team.

“Being the director is actually very similar to my previous sales leader role because much of what I do still relates to hotel sales,” said McNair.

As the lead member of the sales team, McNair is responsible for generating new business leads and revenue streams in the association, corporate meetings and incentives sectors.
