Visit Aurora has been growing its team of industry experts with new editions to their staff. Brian-Douglas S. Stanwood has been welcomed as the new group sales manager, playing a major role in furthering Visit Aurora’s mission to strengthen its reputation as a meetings destination.

“Brian-Douglas comes to us from a long career in hospitality, meetings, and conventions,” said Bruce Dalton, Visit Aurora president and CEO. “His prior experience in Colorado market is invaluable for serving metro-Denver clients. He’s a great addition to our sales team,” said Dalton.

Stanwood will identify and connect with meeting, convention, and association planners to drive overnight visitors to the city. “I’ve experienced first-hand the shift in Colorado’s hospitality industry and I can say without a doubt, Aurora is truly a destination on the rise,” said Stanwood. “With the introduction of the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in 2018, we’re continuing to gain ground in Colorado’s growing meetings market.”

Stanwood’s passion for hospitality brings fifteen years of experience, including work at Event Travel Management, Renaissance Denver Hotel, Cheyenne Mountain Resort and Visit Denver.

Visit Aurora continues to expand and enhance positive presence in the meetings industry while also remaining a destination for leisure or business travel.

It was announced in late February that during the month of March uber-restaurateur Stephen Starr would be introducing a unique "Support our Schools" program in his 20 Philadelphia restaurants.

Philadelphia schools have long been a subject of discontent and Starr’s plans to raise $100,000 during the one-month period would help support multimedia labs, elementary school playgrounds and six-week summer internships. Starr’s restaurants average 40,000 customers per week and diners would be encouraged to add a donation when paying their bill.
