>>  Opened in late 2016, the newest member of The Culinary Institute of America family, CIA at Copia in Napa, features a variety of meeting space options, including indoor teaching kitchens, a 200- seat theater, outdoor gardens, a restaurant and an amphitheater on the Napa River. 

>> Verve Napa Valley has a new team-building activity featuring hands-on learning with horses and professional equine facilitators that addresses topics connected to leadership such as self-awareness, nonverbal communication, embodiment, mood, trust, and intuition. 

>> Silverado Resort and Spa introduced 30,000 square feet of new outdoor function space this summer. Located adjacent to the property’s recently renovated 15,000-square-foot conference center, the Mansion Gardens include a small vineyard, spacious lawn and 5,000-square-foot, seasonal pavilion with heating, cooling, sidewalls, blackout curtains, doors, lighting and power. 

The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority has selected SMG, a worldwide entertainment and convention venue management company, to operate the RSCVA-owned Reno-Sparks Convention Center (RSCC), state-owned Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, and Reno Events Center and National Bowling Stadium, both owned by the City of Reno. The four-year agreement began in June and also includes culinary services through SMG’s in-house food and beverage division.


Twenty additional historic hotels have been nominated and accepted into the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Historic Hotels of America program, which includes properties ranging in age from 52 to 246 years old. Two that fall within Mountain Meetings’ coverage area include the Fairmont Olympic in Seattle, Washington and Alpenhof Lodge in Teton Village, Wyoming.


Forbes Travel Guide has revealed its 2018 Star Award winners. The 60th annual list of the world’s best hotels, restaurants and spas included nine U.S. Mountain West hotels that landed the prestigious Five-Stars and are located in the mountains or immediately surrounded by peaks.
