Meeting Professionals International, the world’s largest meeting and event industry association, has announed an organizational realignment. This includes the introduction of new leadership positions, the reconstruction of teams and their roles, and realignment of management responsibilities, to improve the company’s long-term position.
Almost 14 million visitors spent an estimated $1.4 billion last year in Arlington, Texas, according to a study conducted by Longwoods International. This study was prepared for the Arlington Convention & Visitor’s Bureau with a mission to provide an overview of Arlington’s tourism business in 2015. It included information about overnight and day visitors, how much visitors were spending and other relevant trends.
Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau has selected Richard Staub as the senior vice president, convention sales.
In his role, Staub will be in charge of leading the CVB’s convention sales and services team in hitting booking goals through the marketing of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. He will start in September.
Two new members have stepped up to Destination Gettysburg’s board of directors.
The CVB recently elected Andrea Proulx, director, sales and marketing, Gettysburg Hotel and Bryan Johnson, CTA, general manager, Country Inn & Suites By Carlson hotel to serve three-year terms on the board, starting July 1.
The Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau revealed it will support Meeting Professionals International’s Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate course, working as the title sponsor of the program for one year.
Accredited by Saint Louis University, the program, provides participants with vital information on compliance regulations, laws and techniques for managing healthcare meetings.
The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board recently announced the appointment of Richard J. Odorisio to the president of the CVB’s Board of Directors.
Odorisio, currently the COO of the Valley Forge Hotel Management Association, is replacing Former president Michael Bowman, who is now the VFTCB president.
