Located in North Lake Tahoe, Resort at Squaw Creek is offering immersive, snowy activities for groups during the 2021/2022 ski season, including everything from sled regattas to snowshoe races. Here’s a closer look at some of the options.

  • Wacky Winter Games - Groups separate into teams of six to 10 people and compete in challenges, including snowman building competitions, snowshoe relay races, snow softball, igloo building competitions, and more.
  • Sled Regatta - Teams must build a sled using materials such as cardboard and duct tape. Once completed, a designated team member races it down the resort’s sled hill.
  • Ice Rink Activities – Resort at Squaw Creek’s ice rink makes it easy for groups to take part in a broomball tournament book private skate sessions.
  • Hit the Trails – Head out on three miles of groomed meadow trails on a guided cross-country skiing or snowshoeing tour before holding races complete with prizes once everyone has got the hang of it.

In addition to the winter team-building experiences, Resort at Squaw Creek offers ski-in/ski-out access to Palisades Tahoe, a ski resort with 24 lifts and 6,000 skiable acres.

Resort at Squaw Creek has 405 guest rooms and suites and 33,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including the 9,225-square-foot Grand Sierra Ballroom and the 5,120-square-foot Alpine Ballroom and breakout rooms named after local ski peaks and trails. There’s also 14,700 square feet of outdoor meeting space such as the spacious Plaza Deck.

Triple Creek Ranch in Darby, Montana, has named Molly Smith and Kristen Snavely co-general managers of the all-inclusive luxury property situated in the Bitterroot Valley. Smith is returning to Triple Creek Ranch after a brief hiatus. Previously serving as GM for four years after working her way up from pastry chef, she has since perfected her skills at The Inn at Hastings Park in Massachusetts, another Relais & Châteaux property.

With meetings returning to normal as the COVID-19 pandemic levels out, outdoor mountain pursuits are finding more time on meeting agendas. Taking events outdoors not only boosts attendees’ comfort level as they ease back into in-person meetings, time spent in nature is proven to improve brain health and stimulate creative thinking as well.

We’ll be looking at this topic in-depth in the Spring/Summer 2022 issue of Mountain Meetings. Consider this as an introduction to some of the possibilities.
