Recipient of the World’s Leading Luxury Train title from the 2020 World Travel Awards, Rocky Mountaineer launched its first-ever excursion in America’s Southwest on Aug. 15, 2021. Rockies to the Red Rocks is a two-day route that winds alongside rivers and through canyons and mountains between the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado and the red rock formations of Moab, Utah. From either direction, the overnight stay is in historic Glenwood Springs, Colorado, known for hot springs (Glenwood Hot Springs Pool and Iron Mountain Hot Springs), outdoor fun, festivals and a vibrant downtown district.

Due to strong interest from travelers, Rocky Mountaineer extended the inaugural Rockies to the Red Rocks season by four weeks, adding rail cars and additional departure dates to increase availability. There are now 56 departure options from Aug. 15 – Nov. 19, 2021, with the choice of beginning from Denver or Moab.

Rocky Mountaineer operates multi-day, daytime train journeys that feature incredible scenery, regional cuisine, and attentive service in spacious, glass-domed train coaches. This new excursion is in addition to the three rail routes that the company runs in western Canada. All of Rocky Mountaineer’s routes are ideal for corporate retreats and incentives, providing an easy way to enjoy the scenice U.S. Mountain West and western Canada.

Groups and leisure travelers can now book stays and gatherings at Utah’s Pendry Park City, located in the heart of Canyons Village at Park City Mountain and set to open in winter 2021/2022. The ski-in/ski-out resort and residences is the first mountain resort for Pendry Hotels & Resorts and will provide easy access to the largest ski area in the nation with more than 7,300 acres of skiable terrain.

As meetings and events start revving up again, many properties have come up with unique solutions to encourage groups to gather. Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa, located on the Santa Ana Pueblo between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, is no exception and has been offering COVID safe bubble and resort buyout meeting experiences for 2021 events.

There are several new appointments to announce in the U.S. Mountain West’s hospitality industry. Here are the latest of interest to the meetings and events industry.
