Allianz Global Assistance released their Allianz Travel Insurance Vacation Confidence Index on July 5, revealing that Americans are estimated to spend more than $100 billion of spending on summer vacations this summer. Allianz defined a vacation as a "leisure trip of at least a week to a place that is 100 miles or more from home." The Vacation Confidence Index measures Americans' confidence in their ability to take a summer vacation, showing that the projected summer spending for this year is $101.1 billion, compared to 2016's $89.9 billion, a 12.5 percent increase from 2016.

Sometimes these are observations from staff, but Destination Hotels is on its fifth year of conducting a “State of the Meetings Industry” survey that happened in October and garnered responses from more than 400 corporate, association, government and independent planners.
A recently conducted survey by IMEX concluded that wellbeing is a top priority for meeting professionals. IMEX will offer a series of wellbeing initiatives at IMEX America this year to recognize the wellbeing for meeting professionals.
This year at IMEX America, attendees will have the opportunity to discover the latest trends and innovations that will greatly influence the meeting and events industry.
According to an IMEX Group survey of almost 1,200 respondents, nearly 40 percent of meeting professionals believe these trends and innovations will come from technology.
A recent study conducted by Allianz Travel Insurance, found that more than 170 million Americans haven’t taken a vacation in the last year. That’s more than half of the population—53 percent, to be exact!
However, this is down from last year when 56 percent of respondents noted they hadn't taken a vacation in the last year.
